A Good Day and A Dog

I know I haven't posted in awhile - not since our first snow. We've had another dusting earlier in the week.

But yesterday was a good day. After work, I came home and then Mike and I packed up the doggie and headed to the local park to walk around and play. It's been really pretty here. In the 60's. Makes you want springtime!

Today, we started out cleaning house and we had let the pup out to play in the back yard. Here is what we found one time when looking out for her....

We have the mud hole that no matter what we do it always come back. Right where we park our cars. This winter it has came back so we'll work on it again this spring.

So we decided to take her to the father-in-laws to run in the pasture and play in the creek! We ended up packing our lunch and taking it with us. We are currently ending the evening by cooking dinner together while the pup is knocked out on the couch snoring!

Just enjoying God's creation and each other!

I've been tagged!!!!!!!!!

I have been tagged by Natalie from Koinonia Community! My 'energetic' friend who keeps me in stitches about life.

These are the rules:

1) Link to the person who tagged you
2) Post the rules on your blog (this is what you are now reading)
3) Write 6 random things about yourself (see below)
4) Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them (This is only a game)
5) Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog
6) Let the tagger know when your entry is up

Here are 6 random things about me....

(1) I am a huge animal lover. We currently have two dogs, two cats, and three horses. At one time we nickname our place as "Stray Acres"!!! My husband tells everyone that he had to put his foot down...we have our last dog because of him!!! Babe....if your reading this....that's putting your foot down! HA! HA!

(2) I have OCD and a fear of fire. About to tell you more than most would share. I have this crazy routine that I do in the mornings. If I iron clothes before leaving for work, I check the iron at least three times before leaving. I check my curling iron at least three times (actually touching the outlet to ensure its not plugged up). I check the stove/oven before leaving the house (this is the freaky part - even when I haven't cooked in the morning) I know I'm a freak! I have issues! Ever since 1991 when I went to bed and my ex-husband just about burnt our house down cooking and then fell asleep. I'm paranoid big time!! Probably more info then you want to know...huh?

(3) I am a planner. I like my day to be scheduled and structured. I've gotten better over the years - I use to get really bent out of shape if my schedule was thrown off. Being married to my wonderful, loving husband (in case your reading babe!) has gotten me a little more relaxed. Five years ago we went to Florida to get married without telling our family. I had the trip planned from the day we were leaving to the day we came home. Hmm! Not with my hubby! He blew that before we even got to the Florida state line! He has helped me to relax and not be so anal!

(4) I am a mountain person. I like the beach but it's too hot. I like the mountains. I feel closer to nature. I like the waterfalls, cool fresh air, bubbling creeks, rustic homes. I'm about ready for a trip!

(5) I'm addicted to books. I love to read. I don't get to do it (for enjoyment)as much as I wish I could anymore. I have Christian books, self-help books, organization books, fiction, romance, etc. Whenever we build a house I want one room to be nothing but an office and library. I actually want wall to wall bookshelves filled with books.

(6) Last but not least.....one thing about me that I want everyone to know is that I am in love with Christ. I want every minute of the day fill with him. I am very blessed and I owe it all to him. In the past I've climbed the corporate ladder, tried to be all I can be, and do it all on my own.......I was miserable. The last five years of my life have been wonderful. I have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and my life is so full. Even when there is doubt, trouble, fear....as long as I turn it over to him, he will lift me above it all. No corporate ladder or even myself can do that. I am a princess to the King of Kings. I am in awe of Jesus Christ.

So now I can "tag" some more...........

(1) Cammy from The Tippy Toe Diet - she has encouraged me throughout my ups and downs with weight loss. I love reading her blog and seeing her success. She's an inspiration!

(2)Lelia Chealey from Write from the Heart - I don't get to participate fully online with her Bible studies but I love reading along with her and seeing her comments (okay, yeah, in a way I'm lurking!) I really tried to follow along but..... From her blog, I feel like she's been a friend forever. She makes you feel welcome and lets you see into her life.

(3) Holly from The Preachers Wife - I love reading about her life as a preacher's wife and viewing pics of her boys. I've watched podcast from her church and hope to visit in the future.

(4)Jenny from Standing at the waters edge - Here is another godly woman who through her blog lets you into her life. To see her struggles, her fears, and how God pulls her through it all.

(5)Erin from A New Song - Another fellow North Carolina girl whose loving God. I love to read about her everyday life and what's going on at her church.

(6) Lylah from The Lylah Blog - this is the newest blog that I stumbled across and I love it. I love the way she approaches everything from organizing/declutter, to being frugal, to tips on how to improve your listening skills, to gardening with a biblical viewpoint.

I hope you have a much fun as I do visiting these blogs. As my friend Nat (who started this with me!!!) said - "Get to know them. Encourage them. Learn some new stuff." I know you'll fall in love with them! Give them a day or two to write their random six things, but don't forget to check them out.
Enjoy!

Mental Health Day

Today I am using up a vacation day....laying around, reading other's blog, chilling. Work has been pretty stressful lately. I may have mentioned earlier that we are in the process of "merging" (thats what their calling it anyway) with Novant Health. I'm actually ready for it to happen, but from now till April 1st its going to be hard. Alot of work and stress.

I've been suffering from headaches lately. I believe partly from the stress and maybe alittle because I am needing to go get new glasses. My old ones are pretty scratched.

I've found alot of new blogs that have inspired me alot about my journey in loosing weight, become healthy, etc.

Guess I better go and start working on a meal plan for the next week or so......

Are you ready for some football!!!!!

Sorry that I haven't written in awhile. It's been pretty busy. Just got back from a Super Bowl party at a friends house. It was pretty cool. We started the night off playing "extreme croquet". I've never played regular croquet....so this was neat to participate in. The course was set up with all kinds of obstacles. There was a creek that you had to go over several times, ramps, walls you bounced off of, etc. Needless to say that I (along with my husband - we were a team) stayed in the creek alot. But it was fun.

Then we had football charades and then a game where you were not allowed to say "football" or "Super Bowl". It was a really good night spend with alot of loving friends. And I don't even like (or understand) football!!!!

Celebrating Christmas with friends

Last night we celebrated Christmas with my aunt, uncle, cousin, and family friend. We started this little get together about two or three years ago. It's really nice. We have a meal together, sit around talking, eating cookies/brownies, drinking coffee, and then opening gifts.

My favorite part is just being spending time with them relaxing and talking. This year we did it the day after our church event "Give CHRISTmas". We were all kindof tired and ready just to veg out.

We had yummy chili, lots of laughter, and warm hugs before leaving. Great time!

Here's some Christmas pics........

Give CHRISTmas!

Yesterday was our "Give CHRISTmas" event at church. Hundreds, upon hundreds of toys were donated to this ministry, a lot of individuals volunteered their time, and over 1,000 kids / over 350 families were helped.

This was an awesome event. We got there about 7am and left around 3pm. I was in awe when I walked through the door and seen all the gifts that were donated. Then when the volunteers started to arrive, it was just amazing. To think that people willing gave up their Saturday, got out in the rain, and came to "work". People are so surprising.

It was a day of laughter, tears, and most of all blessings. Here are just a few pics but they don't even begin to describe the actual day.......

Festival of Tables

As mentioned in an earlier post - last night was "Festival of Tables" at my church. This was the first year in four years that I didn't do a table.

But I had the pleasure of sitting at my cuz, Holly's table. It was a kitty table. Cute as can be. Here are the pics from last night...
